Difference Between Radial and Axial

A variety of standard lead forms are available from Tokenchina for use where auto-insertion is not available or practical.


Forms vary from simple right angle lead bends, vertical hair pin bends, to lock in styles that lock into the circuit board. This provides for a positive stand-off while holding the part securely in place during further applications.


What is the difference between radial and axial?
  • From a Resistor Point of View
    The difference is in the lead positions: Radial lead resistors have both leads out the bottom. Axial lead resistors lay on their both sides and have one lead on each end.

  • From a Formed Resistor Point of View
    Resistors' leads after forming for horizontal mounting is called Axial Type Resistors and for vertical mounting is called Radial Type Resistors.
